I've seen so many forums where the administrator just abandons it. Sometimes the crowd stays, most of the time it leaves. Would you ever be able to own a forum and just leave it one day for it to wander on to it's own turf?

I don't think so. Forums that have been left without any owner usually fail after a while anyway, either spammers take over or something happens which causes the forum to go down and never return. You don't typically see active abandoned forums, really.

Shame on me, but there were times when I had to be away from my forum due to various reasons, and for quite a long time too. I do have another administrator, but she is more a moderator than administrator who also must take care of technical issues.

During that period, with her help and my community as well, the forum survived somehow. Posts rate each day were low, but there were still people there, talking to each other. It was at the worst moment when there wasn't really anything new to discuss.

It is indeed a big negative effect for the owner of the site to be away from the forum or abandon it in any kind of way. Though it is possible, if you have a really loving community and at least few staffs around to keep things regulated, that it would still last for some time.

If i made forum , there is no point to leave it

Like Phio I have been away for months, where even if i visit, I am as a member or cannot stay enough to log in, but I really don't think one should leave the forums to their own.

If I decide to let Roczuz live without me, I'd make sure at least one active admin stays, if not, I'd probably will remain even if as technical solver behind the screen type of issues..

Yeah, I agree. I could walk away from ForuMansion knowing that Darren and Lunar are able to take care of it. But I couldn't just 'leave' the place.
