I've noticed somepeople do in my real life, but they typically only do it every once in a while. I just dance around them and move on typically. I have a family member who claims to know what I do when I am online. I never deny what they say, because it is what I infact do. I post on forums, join chat rooms, and do things. I think harassing someone even if trying to do so as a joke is hurtful.

This family member claims to also know what role play is which is also hilarious. I honestly do agree with them on the whole "cyber roleplay is for losers", because the site I used to go to is an adult aged, mature themed role play in which it is allowed. It can be touched on lightly, or be played harshly. They also go on about how stupid it is to pretend to be a character and making them do things that you would do in real life. After they gave me such BS about the whole RP chat room thing, I try and go to them whenever they're at work.

They also give me light crap for liking anime, but it isn't as heavily bashed upon like the whole Internet role play, chat rooms, and forums thing.

So, how would you handle a "giving you crap" family member? I know they do it as a joke, or just to make fun of me. It is so hard to dance around it sometimes, to be honest..

I don't see anything wrong with that sort of thing? Those people obviously don't understand that stuff is fun and it represents you.

I know exactly what you mean! It's so pointless. It's just like being on Facebook. It's stupid to give someone hell over what they are capable of doing, that others aren't.

I blocked my family from my Facebook. Couldn't deal with their daily crap about what I say.

I think it's funny when people give you crap for being on forums and making a hobby, new friends, and even some extra cash sometimes, yet they spend all day on Facebook refreshing a page seeing what their friends are doing. All day. To each his own, but I see those guys as wasting time, at least we branch out. FB is just a forum for dummies.

What you do in your free time, is what you do in your free time That is the one thing i don't judge people by, and it's the golden rule. Any of my friends can do whatever they want, whether it be auto erotic self asphyxiation or foruming, and i wouldn't give a rat's ass.

I'm actually quite fond of some of the people I've met while foruming. They're like real friends to me.

If you like doing something then do it, don't let anybody else's opinion influence or discourage you from doing it. I've been foruming for many years now, and I don't care what people think.

People give me crap bout web designing, but I don't give a rat's booty.

What's funny though is that socially, people still get crap about their 'nerdy' ways, when it's the wave of the future and the people that done hone in on their nerdy skills will be left behind. Let the crap come, in the end, you will have the last laugh, or in this case, job.

I'd just tell them to mind their own business.
I am the only one who uses my computer and I pay the internet bill so there is nobody to judge me for my online activities.

I think people sometimes don't understand the things that have been listed, so they "give crap" to those who do enjoy it. Really, just ignoring it is the way to go.

I understand how it feels. Sometimes that happens to me too, mostly from other family members, because my friends are more understanding since some of them also involved in such world. Sometimes I tried to talk to them, explaining why I think this is much fun, but at other times I would just laugh and walk away. It's not like you can change his mind that easy and vice versa. It depends on what we feel so no point in arguing further. The least and max of what you can do is to explain to them; if they refuse to understand then don't bother. ^^;

Today, someone had said they had a YouTube channel and they were given so much crap. It makes me so mad. We put a lot of work into something, that isn't appreciated by everyone. >_>
